SilhouetteGlenbrook Help

1. Finding your home computer's SMTP Address so you can use SilhouetteGlenbrook to send mail

Question: In the SilhouetteGlenbrook mail window at home, I need to know my smtp server name. How do I find out what that is?

Answer: Depending on your internet service provider (ISP), this can be very simple.
If your ISP is Telus, enter smtp.telus.net.
If your ISP is Shaw then try shawmail.  If shawmail does not work or you have a different ISP, then you may have to telephone the ISP's helpline and ask.

Alternate answer: If you are getting and sending your email using Mozilla Firebird or Outlook Express, then your computer already knows your smtp server.
In Thunderbird, click on Tools in the menu bar, and then on Account Settings. Slide to the bottom of the left-hand listing and click on Outgoing Server (SMTP). The "Server Name" (about mid-window) is what you are looking for.
In Outlook Express,  click on Tools in the menu bar, and then on Accounts. In the next window, click on the Mail tab and then on the Properties button. In the next window, click on the Servers tab. The entry beside Outgoing mail (SMTP) is your smtp address.
2. Where's the MacOS version of SilhouetteGlenbrook?
SilhouetteGlenbrook is available for Windows only (Windows 7, Vista, XP or 2000).
[However, if you have an Intel-based MacOS computer, with BootCamp and a valid Windows installation CD, you can install Windows on your Mac and then install SilhouetteGlenbrook in that Windows installation.]
